As a biological concept, the term adult refers to a human or animal that is a person who has grown. Within the human realm, adults refer to legal and social concepts. Contrary to the term "minor" (or "non-adult", a legal-age adult is an individual who has achieved majority. They are thought to be responsible, independent and capable. An adult who is legally mature can be described as a major. The age for achieving legally adulthood is 18 but the definition can vary based on laws, countries and the level of development in psychological terms.

adulthood is the stage of the life of an individual in where physical and mental maturity have been attained. Adulthood is commonly considered to begin at the age of 20 or 21. Then, after middle age (starting at around 40) then comes older age (around age 60). Adulthood is divided into three distinct phases early adulthood (18-30 years) middle adulthood (30-60 years) and finally, late adulthood (60%-60 percent). At the point we are in an early age (20 to the early 40s), our physical maturation is completed, though our weight and height might increase slightly. The physical abilities of our bodies are at their peak at the age of young adulthood. This includes muscle strength and reflex speed, as well as senses, and heart functioning.
